Video Card Troubleshooting
Common Video Issues:
#1
-Image may appear scrambled or distorted
-Images may appear to small or even duplicate images
-Blank Screen
-A whine noise coming from the monitor
These are typically caused by improper resolution settings in place for your video card. Follow these steps to try and resolve:
-Right-Click on your desktop and then choose properties.
-In the window that pops up, choose settings
-In the scren resolution section, move the slider left to choose a lower resolution.
- Click Apply and then OK to accept the settings. You may need to restart afterwards.
#2
-Blank Screen
Obvious first thing to check is to make sure the power LED on the front of the monitor is on. This way you know its at least getting power. If not, reseat the power cable and try again. If it still doesn't get power, try another plug.
Still no luck? Try reseating the video card inside the computer. Be sure to shut down the system first and unplug it before touching the internals. Video cards (or any internal device really) can become unseated in their slot when the computer is moved or jolted.
If all else fails, try another monitor. If it works with another monitor, then you'll at least know that the problem is your monitor and not your video card.
