| Wake on LAN |
Also known as WOL, is a computer networking standard which allows a pc to
be turned on remotely by a network message. |
| WAP |
Or Wireless Access Point, is a hardware device that connects wireless communication
devices together forming a wireless network. This allows the wireless devices to
conect to the Internet and other network resources. |
| Web 2.0 |
Pertains to a 'second-generation' of Internet-based services which include social
networking sites (ie. Facebok, Myspace, etc), wikis, and communication tools which
allow people collaborate and share info online in ways that were previously unavailable. |
| Web Browser |
The application or software (typically Internet Explorer or Firefox) used to view
resources on the Internet. A Web browser takes Uniform Resource Locator, or URL,
as input and then uses the protocol, sitename, and path which are specified in the
URL, to obtain the resources specified .

Also known as a blog, is a web-based publication which consists primarily of periodic
articles posted by individuals or groups.

| WEP |
Also known as Wired Equivalent Privacy, or Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) is
a security protocol used to secure IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. It is part of
the IEEE 802.11 wireless networking standard. WEP is designed to provide the same
level of security as that of a wired LAN. |
| Wi-Fi |
Also known as "Wireless Fidelity" is a set of standards for wireless local area
networks (LANs) based on the 802.11 specifications. |
| WAN |
Otherwise know as 'wide area network' connects LANs to each other and can offer
the means to provide services as well as resources in multiple locations.

A wiki is website which allows visitors to add and change content, typically without
requiring registration. Wikis can be a very effective tool for mass collaborative
authoring because of its easy interaction and operation. |
| WPA |
Also known as Wi-Fi Protected Access, WPA is an encryption protocol used for wireless
networks. WPA is a much stronger and more secure protocol than the standard WEP
type encryption. |
