Variable In programming, a variable is a language object that can take different values, one at a time.

Video Adapter A circuit board that plugs into a computer to give it display capabilities. The quality of the display capabilities depend on the logical circuitry provided in the video adapter as well as the display monitor.

VLSI Also known as Very Large Scale Integration, are integrated circuits with greater than 100,000 transistors.

VOIP The routing of voice communications over the Internet or other IP-based networks. The voice data flows over a general-purpose packet-switched network instead of the traditional dedicated, circuit-switched phone lines.

VSAT Or 'Very Small Aperture Terminal' is a term which refers to any fixed satellite terminal that is used to provide interactive or receive-only communications.

VPN Also known as a virtual private network, is a secure tunnel through the public Internet that uses encryption and other security mechanisms to protect the data. This is typically used to allow users to connect withtheir office networks from remote locations. VPN's are also used to securely connect remote offices to each other.
