UNC Also known as Uniform Naming Convention, are paths that specify the name of a computer and a directory or resource to be accessed. The name of the computer is prefaced with two backslashes, while the directory is prefaced with the traditional one backslash. Here's an example: \\SERVER1\SHARENAME.
